The London War Cup was competed for in two seasons during the Second World War. Reading were the winners in 1940-41, beating Brentford in front of a crowd of 9,000 at Stamford Bridge. The following season they were eliminated at the group stage. Brentford went on to beat Portsmouth in the final in front of a crowd of 72,000 at Wembley.
