<< Season 1914-15 >>

Reading finished Southern League runners-up for the third time, although this was overshadowed by the outbreak of the First World War before the start of the season. Perhaps in the belief that it would be "over by Christmas", the Football League and Southern League programmes were allowed to continue, a decision that was to attract a lot of adverse comment.
