Reading went a second consecutive season without losing a League match at Elm Park. Overall they went 55 games undefeated at home from 1933 to 1936. Indeed they only lost three home games in the four years Joe Smith was in charge. The crowd of 30,621 for the visit of Arsenal in the FA Cup fifth round was the second highest ever at Elm Park.
