Burton Swifts and Burton Wanderers merged to form Burton United in 1901.
These clubs are not related to Burton Albion.
Rotherham County and Rotherham Town merged to form
Rotherham United in 1925. Leeds City
reformed as Leeds United after being expelled
from the League in 1919. South Shields
became Gateshead in 1930. AFC Wimbledon were formed in 2002 after the
old Wimbledon club announced their plans
to relocate to Milton Keynes.
