London Combination Records

During the First World War both the Football League and Southern League were suspended. The leading teams from London formed the London Combination in 1915. Reading were initially refused admission to the main competition, but did participate in the second, supplementary tournament. In the 1916-17 season, Reading participated in the main competition, but resigned after just seven games, their place being taken by Portsmouth. In following seasons membership was restricted to London clubs.

The champions and runners-up in the London Combination and the other regional wartime competitions were as follows. Several leagues had both a primary and a secondary tournament, which are denoted by the roman numerals I and II, respectively. There were also a number of Victory competitions, denoted by V, after the end of the War.

After the War there was some discussion of a breakaway London League, but this was averted, as is discussed here. The London Combination became a competition for reserve teams, eventually evolving into the Football Combination. Reading's complete record in the London Combination is as follows:
