<< Season 1909-10 >>

Reading were relegated to the Second Division following a dreadful season, including an embarrassing 9-1 defeat at Swindon. With crowds dwindling, the club was in deep financial trouble and very nearly went out of business, with a decision to wind up the club being taken, but never implemented. Interestingly, the reserve team performed much better, being champions of the Great Western Suburban League.
